Sometimes acting quickly and boldly is exactly what the situation calls for.   At other times we are called to restraint.  In our scripture lesson we find that Jesus calls us to restraint in a number of ways.  These include restraint from judgement and restraint from trying to fix our neighbor, especially when we are dealing wit the same issue ourselves.  Sometimes we are even called to restraint when it comes to sharing that which is holy, good, true.  Jesus would have us be discerning and share the pearls of the gospel with those ready to consider them.  We cannot make people interested in the gospel, it just doesn't work.  However, we can make the gospel interesting, even compelling, by truly living lives that demonstrate God's grace and the power of God to make new.
